Frequently asked questions
What can I do if a message appears telling the respondent that the deadline for completion has expired?
Go to the questionnaire in question and click Edit in the top right-hand side of the screen. Next, enter a new date under Latest response date. Once you click Save, respondents will be able to access the questionnaire again.
Which questions does the questionnaire contain?
See the Safety Ladder certification scheme for an overview of the questions you will find in the questionnaire. The questionnaire will consist of multiple-choice questions, broken down into yes/no and completely/mostly/partly/not questions.
How do I create a new questionnaire?
Go to Manage at the top right-hand side of the screen and click New questionnaire. Enter the details required. You will also be able to add respondents and send them an invitation.
How many questions are there in the questionnaire?
The questionnaire consists of 233 questions, broken down into four steps. When creating a questionnaire, you can indicate the step for which you would like to obtain certification for your organisation. Respondents will then only be given the questions for the step in question and the steps below it. The number of questions per step follow below:
- Step 2: 38 questions
- Step 3: 105 questions

The explanations provided can be found in the Excel file. You can download this file from the Overview for your questionnaire.
I have completed the self-assessment and would like to have my organisation certified. How do I arrange this?
The certification process consists of a number of steps. A Ladder Certification Body will assess your self-assessment, establish the ladder step achieved and then issue the safety Awareness Certificate.
How do I upgrade my trial subscription to a paid subscription?
When you log in, you will be able to upgrade your subscription via Manage in the top-right hand side of the page. A message will be generated when you log in after your subscription has ended. You can upgrade your subscription via this message too. If you find that this does not work, please contact us via email@example.com.
My (trial) subscription has ended. Have my questionnaires and results been deleted?
No, you will be able to view all of your information again when you upgrade your subscription to a paid subscription.
How do the language settings work?
The Webtool is available in three languages. You can switch from one language to another at any time via the little flag displayed in the top right-hand side of the page. You can also set a language when creating a questionnaire. Although your respondents will always initially see a questionnaire in the language that you have chosen, they will also be able to change the language via the little flag displayed in the top right-hand side of the page.
Can I group or filter results?
Yes, you can analyse results at function level (management or implementing employees) or by office or department. You will see that all of the answers have been anonymised.
Where can I download/export the results?
You can download an Excel file from the Overview for your questionnaire. It contains all of the answers given (each of which has been anonymised). You can download a PDF file of the score table under the Results tab.
Where can I see the score per answer?
You will find the score in the certification scheme for the Safety Ladder. See the Excel download that accompanies your questionnaire for the score awarded to you per answer given. A score of 0 points will be awarded whenever a question is answered with ‘I don't know’.
How can I make it possible for my colleague to send a questionnaire or view results too?
Go to My organisation via Manage. Click on Add under Manage users and enter your colleague’s details. Our Customer Service Department can then make sure that your colleague is given the appropriate rights. Send your colleague’s details to firstname.lastname@example.org, asking for him/her to be made a company administrator.
How is the score calculated?
You must achieve a minimum of 70, 75 or 80% of the maximum score. The step in question will then turn green. Your organisation will have met the requirements for a certain step if:

- the sum of the weighted scores for all of the company aspects of the steps must comply with the minimum requirement for the step in question. The percentage varies from one step to another (70, 75 or 80%).
Will the respondents that have been added automatically receive an invitation to complete the questionnaire?
No, you will need to send an invitation manually. Click the names of the respondents that you want to invite and then click the Send invitation button. You will now be able to send the invitation e-mail.
As the company administrator, I would like to complete the questionnaire too. How do I do this?
Use your details (name and e-mail address) to create a respondent. Next, select the questionnaire in the column on the right via the Webtool page.
Will different questions apply for the different function levels (implementing employees/management)?
No, the questions are the same for all respondents.
Do I have to use the calculator tool to establish the number of respondents necessary?
